ECO-SOCIALISM - A WAY FORWARD

Introduction

                     It is well known that environment, ecosystem and nature are the backgrounds wherein humans built up their homes, cultures and social systems , from forests to urban areas. ( see www.atozofliving.org/learnfromnature.html and www.atozofliving.org/greenvalues/greenvalues.html ) . All developmental or progressive activities were ecologically well balanced and sustainable up to about rural, agricultural habitats. Global population was under control or compatible with natural resources up to about 1970 – 80 at about 4 billions.(At present global population is over 6 billions , an average increase of 500 millions per decade. The rate during 1800 - 1900 was about 64 millions per decade). This benchmark (1970-80) was the time when mass manufacturing and pollutions started showing their destructive powers. Then onwards, industrialization, pollutions of air, Earth and water, urbanization, consumerism etc. are flourishing at the costs of animals, plants, nature and nations. From about 1990-2000 onwards, pollutions, ozone holes etc. crossed their limits of absorption and acceptance. Now humans all over the Earth are facing a suicidal situation of imbalances, scarcities, diseases and destruction. Policy makers and intellectuals are trying to find out solutions for the global problems which show trends of total collapse towards an extinction- phase (see www.atozofliving.org/modern-dynosaurs.html ). Some fundamental solutions of disciplining citizens and societies are found out (see www.atozofliving.org/four-is-of-life/four-Is-of-life.html and www.atozofliving.org/self-discipline.html ). Presently humans are organized within different nations and groups of nations for economic and security benefits. Hence solutions are to be found out at socio-political levels also. What are they?

The International Problem
                     It is a known fact that uncontrolled wealth accumulations, capitalist economic policies and liberalism are the root-causes for the present global problems of pollutions, resources’ depletion , social imbalances, urbanization, militarism and militancy. The rich and powerful nations and their organizations have only motives of maintaining their dominations and supremacy in technology, international trade and finance. Many nations are forced to be simply nations of suppliers and markets. All or many global institutions of morals and peace (e.g., religions) have become simply traditional ‘views and ways’ or mere ways of communal/social living. They have lost their captaincies or goaderships and are now only flotsam human colonies, driven by economic forces rather than human values and morals. In this background of international disorder in morals, laws and social balances, a philosophy of life and society based on natural, familial and social values and balances is needed. This is what is basically right and relevant about eco-socialism.

Fundamentals of Eco-socialism
                     Stated in order in the following chart are the natural and objective links at different levels, leading to eco-socialism.

Nature ----> Ecosystems ----> Ecologies ----> Eco-ethics ----> Eco-societies ----> Eco-socialism

Here, ecosystem is defined as ‘ a biological community of interacting organisms and their physical environment (Concise Oxford Dictionary 9th ed.). (See glossary in www.atozofliving.org/specialdirectory/glossary.html also). In many oceanic ecosystems, humans do not form a component/participating organism, they are predators. In present situations, land areas are occupied and used by humans in various destructive ways in many regions. Ecology is the scientific study of ecosystems, i.e., different lands, weathers, rivers and other water bodies, plants and animals, individually and interelatedly. This brings out the natural features , communal and individual living ways and values (see www.atozofliving.org/learnfromnature.html and www.atozofliving.org/greenvalues/greenvalues.html ). Eco-society here means a human society/community established in an ecosystem or region in an eco-friendly and sustainable way. Healthy governance and management of an eco-friendly society is the purpose of an eco-socialist charter and system. The wonderful thing is that an eco-friendly society is bound to be socialist in nature, to avoide accumulation of wealth, misuse and destruction of environments and waste of resources by citizens. (Tribal societies are naturally and basically socialist in nature).

Background of Eco-socialism

                     Anybody can read and study on historical and fundamental aspects of socialism in books on socialism, materialism, Marxism, society and wealth, freedom and wealth, natural resources and wealth accumulation etc. At practical levels of government, administration and social living, what are the important steps to be followed in a socialist set-up? ‘Limits of Wealth’ ( www.atozofliving.org/wealth.html ) explains and lists 10 basic guidelines for prevention of accumulation of wealth and maintaining health of environments and society. These 10 guidelines are final products of long term studies, and reviews of literature on society, morals, health, Marxism , materialism and some other subjects and topics. (See www.atozofliving.org/greenvalues/greenvalues.html ), www.atozofliving.org/learnfromnature.html , www.atozofliving.org/wealth.html , www.atozofliving.org/whatistruth.html , www.atozofliving.org/four-is-of-life/four-Is-of-life.html . There are many web sites dealing with eco-socialism, materialism, Marxism, nature, wealth, health , morals etc. THE MOST APPEALING THING ABOUT ECO-SOCIALISM IS ITS DERIVATION FROM ECOSYSTEMS, ECO-ETHICS AND SOCIETY (see 3rd paragraph). HENCE IT IS NATURALLY AND PHILOSOPHICALLY CORRECT; SCIENTIFICALLY AND FUNDAMENTALLY CORRECT. So how to practise it in different ecosystems/regions/countries?
